Clashing cardboard aside….

So this is what I mean by stage 1. Here all the layers are present but I still rely on tape to help with the shape. So there are still patches and darts that need to be cut and evened. But I have tried this on my arm and it fits with enough wiggle room for a thicker substrate- probably two layers of thin foam not the heavy stuff.
So I need a good amount of extra card to do this. Also I think I’d actually need at least one whole extra cow were I to make this from leather so I will leave it for my current plans of Talon bikini top and some fantasy armour.

no caps because my hands have reached their limit and i can only use my index finger and thumb of my right hand to type. in other words; buggerybollocks. and now that i have stopped i realise my elbows are likewise embuggerated. but trying to get more than two years r and d in to one page…. yeah. i was a tad excited and wanted to publish nowrightnow but it will have to wait a while. my lesson in this life is patience. i cling to that to try and make the pain tolerable; it is a lesson. pft. could have been a different method of teaching frankly

Progress?

Today I wrote up a proposal for Armageddon cosplay events, kind of nervous even though I have been involved for such a long time. Really hoping we can do this, as it would help everyone. And I do mean everyone!
But I also managed to score some nice make up items:
three wide foundation brushes for all my paint! I love these. Not quite moppy like a round natural fbre and not really as hard edged as a flat. Perfect for loading paint to cover limbs.
One stipple brush for foundation because I really needed a back up. they are easy to clean but I do tend to forget between events. Funnily enough with all the stage work in my past and all the body painting currently i don’t tend to want to wear make up day to day 😉
Foundation in my colour! Pasty pinkish ginga white! I am cool toned so most make up is totally wrong on me. Also it appears to do what it says on the bottle. A bit perfumey for me but it does dissipate fairly quickly.
One liquid eyeliner. It’s a MAC!

Onehunga DressMart is actually pretty good 🙂 The “bling” shop no longer sells elf brushes though 🙁 So my foundation brushes are BYS and they are doing three for the price of two.

I set up and then ignored my scanner for Talon- but tidied the rest of the tatoos enough that I can use basic tools in photoshop to tidy and create white spaces between each piece. I also had antihistamines and then did not go a splashing with resin. But both those will happen this week at some stage. On course for slow turtle paced progress but I am also trying to get that balance of sleep and rest as well.

Apparently those skills I learnt back in er, well before the new millenium 😉 Have failed and I can’t make a working path to save me!I know there is an easier way and I could probably update photoshop at that. I’m trying to smooth and fix my tattoos which are pretty complex and the good old gaussian blur/levels trick is not enough to fix a few wobbly lines. So I tried paths but all my anchor points remain fixed and not able to slide along or move the section of the path. So I have just purchased some nice pens so I can print the most updated files and rescan those. Sigh. But then I can also use PS to get the gaps between each piece more even and so it will be worth it in the end.

So I’m going to have to take a break. The sky has decided to just dump rain though. Dump yes, it’s not trickly, it’s not driving it’s just falling. And flooding. So I am not all that keen to brave the walk to the workroom to try somehting else. It’s also just too heavy to go out in so no walking for me. Well… I could if I make sure to have a change of clothes ready for me when I get back. (edit: I did and I had to walk through ankle deep water so yeah it was a bit wet.)

Trying to assess what I can and can’t do in the near and semi-near future. Costume wise. I try not to think about the wider picture too much. And I do have the urge to sculpt Vastra so I have just taken some antihistamine and will back fill my headcast so I can then fill the inside with foam and sand the outer and actually have a base to work from. I made the cast when I was 10kg heavier and it shows so I may have to do a bit of creative fixing of the features to make them work now. bu the nose and mouth and brow ridge looks about right.
