Hopefully my first self adhesive appliances. Now to hope the mix was right- the pharmacy should have a set of tiny scales if not. Using about 1t of each product so it’s nothing any of my scales can do.
But the mold holds in place even without the tie so I know that part works. Yep using my broken mold as I think I can hide a join.
FIRST TEST IS NOT GREAT BUT HERE!
FIRST TEST IS NOT GREAT BUT HERE!
Rush makeup that is way too flat. But hey!
Also I am about to puddle because Mr Boo Boo does indeed have cancer and I am just glad they are “cosmetic” and pain “only” so I have had a wine on not enough food because I have a sad. Not as much as he has- he wants outside so badly. But he also has a toe injury so he is Not Allowed Out!
But the cheeks do what they need, I’m just going to use very little to no pigments. The deadener also works. The nose prosthetic has a gant bubble in it so no it won’t work as a stunt piece but for demonstration purposes it’s great!
Also, I love the self adhesive properties (will try for 300% not 100% next time) and I can’t wait to get Madame VASTRA done!!!!!!
MALEFICENT PROSTHETICS
MALEFICENT PROSTHETICS
What I may do is sculpt them flat, I’ll be able to then make two part ultracal molds that can be stacked away and also be easier to cast. But I can also make the pieces absolutely identical and also get some texture on more easily.
So it seems a waste but it’s not, I want to make really thin casts and make them more even too. So these little pieces will be a guide 🙂

ooooh, feather production soon!
ooooh, feather production soon!
So far I have just tested unaltered glue, unaltered blade, and half altered spine. So right now it’s a feather if you squint at it and look sideways.
Once I start on bulk blade processing and finding some sort of press (okay all my art books wrapped in plastic to protect them) I’ll be able to get assembly going.
My horns are very close fitting- which is great but it shows how uneven a skull is- I have to line up the hairline then swing the sides down from the top of my head. If I try to line up sides first it won’t work. They need to be sanded back ready for the final thin layer of soft texture too. I may or may not be able to cut a tool to shape…. I’d like to but the putty needs to be sticky to hold in place, so then I’ll need to use some sort of release agent on the tool and that will then build up in the resin.
I also have a new set of lenses. Currently sterilising them, then will soak them for a day in my own solution (and will buy some of the newly recommended stuff as my eyes are drier than they used to be. But they can be a good back up for pretty much all the lenses I want for costumes, so long as my eyes are happy.
No photos as I’m about to have a catch up nap- and I need to evade the fumes ?
What else.. oh I forgot to make resin samples. Will have to catch up on that later.

MALEFICENT HORNS PROGRESS
Started cutting the horns down to shape and to be able to be worn. I still need to cut a tiny sliver from the front and slightly more at the back and then vents in the top.
The left horn base is too heavy, but this is pronounced more in the photos due the the angle of the camera and mirror. And me being shortsighted and unable to see what I was doing.
The horns hold on just with hair, though my hair is now far too short to pin over the top. I need a lace front wig for this “natural” look.
HORNS UPDATE XD
HORNS UPDATE XD
So Mite 10 Mega sells Norksi brand fibreglass and that range include polyester as well as epoxy (and the aisle has info sheets on “what is epoxy” which is awesome for health and safety!
It also includes matting and fillers including one labeled as a glue powder, in smaller font that it is aerosil.
I can confirm it is indeed straight up aerosil and straight up nommy and makes for a super flexible mix! So my horns now have the sharp upper angle and deeper support and all in all look fab. And I will be able to at least cast a few horns out of the stuff without super splashy messy making.
However I cleaned my head cast while waiting and I made the mistake of forgetting the time so my jaw is out of alignment. One of my classic signs of RA activity is in my jaw. So right now my lower teeth overlap my upper because of inflammation.
I also nearly had an episode (it is a bit like being drunk but without the stuff people usually get drunk for…) okay it was an episode.
I saw the hospital GP again and basically yes, the long term steroids do mean needing extra care with infections and physical stresses so a day like today is a minor stress and still has an effect. Still in line for an endo specialist.
I feel so much lighter in my headspace though. Just being able to say and have accepted that I can do this far but no further so I can have a life and not potentially shorten my life/wind up in a coma with the few totally physically demanding things I do.
Right so I may also be channelling John Wayne in my walk, and having to take a break after each sentance for my elbows. Hands as well but mainly elbows. So definiety not supplimenting enough cortisol but it’s better to try and avoid.
Also new mineral steroid ca help raiseblood pressure which will be amazing 🙂 My BP is between 95-105/ 60-70 all the time. Been 75/? before which is a bit naff
